Athena Mae is the SWEETEST girl on the block. She loves big, rolls on her back with a waggly tail, and has the cutest face you've probably ever seen! She'd be an amazing family dog, a great companion for someone living alone, and she even gets along with other dogs! After losing the only home she'd ever known due to family relocation and nobody having the time to care for her anymore, all she wants is to spend this fall season with a new family that she can love forever. She's got SO much love to give. She's currently available as a foster-to-adopt because she's got some medical needs that Bideawee will continue to care for until they are resolved, so until then, Bideawee will handle the full cost and coordination of any vet appointments and other care. But we don't want to make her wait for her furrrever home! Come meet her and take her home today! She'd love to be loved on in a home during this crisp fall sweater weather! If this animal is located at our Manhattan Adoption Center, head in to meet them and see if you are a match! We are a same-day adoption center, and an application does not put you on a list or hold an animal for you. If they are in Wantagh or in a foster home, please submit an online application and our team will reach out to further discuss the adoption process. Prior to adoption, all of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and given their age-appropriate vaccines.

Mixed Breed

🧠 Temperament

She'd be an amazing family dog, a great companion for someone living alone, and she even gets along with other dogs!. Mixed-breed dogs pull traits from several lines, which often means fewer breed-linked health problems and a temperament best judged by meeting the dog.

🎾 Exercise

Depends on the individual. A daily walk plus play is the baseline; ask the foster how the dog behaves after a quiet day.

✂️ Grooming

Varies with coat type. Short coats need little; longer or double coats need regular brushing.

🏙️ In a NYC apartment

Mixes are often excellent city dogs. Building breed restrictions are usually enforced on what a dog looks like, so ask the rescue how the dog is typically identified.
