Meet Nova | Apply Now Nova is a 7-year-old Jindo Mix weighing 48 lbs. To say she was just “lonely” doesn’t begin to cover it: Nova survived a street life that was constantly cruel, harsh, and fraught with extreme danger. After a long and difficult rescue effort, she was finally brought to the safety of our center. When she first arrived, perhaps haunted by the terrifying threats of the outside world, she spent her days with her face buried tightly into the corner of the wall. She refused to eat and trembled with deep anxiety. Watching her reject food, our hearts broke, and all we could wish for was for her to eat just one peaceful meal and realize the danger was finally over. But love works miracles. Away from the daily battle for survival, Nova gradually realized she was safe and has completely transformed. Today, she has grown healthily plump and has become the happiest girl who eagerly looks forward to her daily walks with the KK9 Rescue team. Her absolute favorite thing in the world is sniffing around the park and sharing delicious treats with her caretakers. These are the moments where she feels entirely safe and loved. The anxious, hidden dog is gone. In her place is a beautiful soul with a personality as soft and gentle as her coat. She has developed a remarkably calm and warm temperament, learning to trust people with a serene heart. 🧠 Temperament
In her place is a beautiful soul with a personality as soft and gentle as her coat. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.
🎾 Exercise
Today, she has grown healthily plump and has become the happiest girl who eagerly looks forward to her daily walks with the KK9 Rescue team. Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.
✂️ Grooming
Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
To say she was just “lonely” doesn’t begin to cover it: Nova survived a street life that was constantly cruel, harsh, and fraught with extreme danger. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
