Meet Uzu | Apply | Videos
Uzu (우주, pronounced Woo-joo), means “universe” in Korean. He is a gentle, 3 year old Korean Mastiff currently thriving in foster care. At 80 pounds, he is a striking and affectionate presence, with a calm, sensitive personality.
Uzu is slowly gaining confidence and learning to trust the world around him. He enjoys walks, sniffing everything in sight, and showing playful behaviors like zoomies and bows once he feels safe. Uzu is food motivated, especially for bananas and sweet potatoes, and interacts well with other dogs in a patient and structured environment.

You don’t have to wait for an adoption event. In-person meet-and-greets are available in the NYC area, with virtual meet-and-greets available for adopters outside NYC.

Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed. The rescue's write-up is the best guide.
Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.
Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
