Angel is the perfect family dog. She lived in a home with a young kid and was surrendered to the shelter because that child developed allergies. Surrendered to a crowded, loud and dirty shelter by the only family she ever knew was truly heartbreaking for her. She spent two months there kenneled with multiple other dogs - proving herself to be a very good dog. But, being a black dog in a crowded shelter is not easy. Day after day, rescues and adopters walked by her cage and gave her no interest. She was beginning to lose hope. The shelter notified us that she was at the end of her time there and would soon lose her life because the shelter was full. We did a courtesy post and once again, nobody stepped up for her. So we said yes. She is now safe with us in a foster home and doing great. House trained, kid and dog friendly, she loves going for hikes and walk through the neighborhood. She’s about five years old and roughly 70 pounds. She is eager and ready to start her second chapter with a forever family of her own.
🧠 Temperament
House trained, kid and dog friendly, she loves going for hikes and walk through the neighborhood. Friendly, people-focused and famously food-motivated, which makes training straightforward.
🎾 Exercise
High needs — 60-90 minutes daily. Labs love retrieving and swimming, and an under-exercised Lab tends to get mouthy and destructive.
✂️ Grooming
Short double coat that sheds heavily year-round and more in spring and fall. Weekly brushing helps a lot.
🏙️ In an LA apartment
Can do well in an apartment if genuinely exercised. Size and shedding are the main constraints; most are elevator- and crowd-tolerant.
