Simon is one of the 3 long-timers we were able to get out of the shelter, which had been there for 3 years. This sweet boy came into the shelter as a very young dog and has grown up there. He's about 3 years old and couldn't be a sweeter dog. He's a bit of a shy and scared boy, but so loving. He finds comfort in humans and following another dog around the house. Simon is around 50lbs and just the kindest boy! He is so gentle around children, loves other dogs, and is very chill at home. Friendly, people-focused and famously food-motivated, which makes training straightforward. Labs stay adolescent longer than many breeds and are often goofy well past their second birthday.
High needs — 60-90 minutes daily. Labs love retrieving and swimming, and an under-exercised Lab tends to get mouthy and destructive.
Can do well in an apartment if genuinely exercised. Size and shedding are the main constraints; most are elevator- and crowd-tolerant.
