A NYC estimate for a dog this size and coat. Excludes the adoption fee and anything unexpected.
Oh how I love Genie! I first saw Genie at the shelter when I was volunteering a few weeks ago and new she HAD to be my next foster. Since coming home with me, she has exceeded every expectation. Genie is the cutest, sweetest, most gentle little girl. She loves everyone she meets -- and I mean everyone. She wants to say hi to every single person and dog we see on walks. She LOVES her people and follows me all around the apartment like a little shadow. She absolutely loves to snuggle and be close -- she must be touching at all times. Genie is the happiest little girl -- her tail literally never stops wagging. Genie spent her first couple days settling in napping pretty much all day, but in the last couple days she's started to open up and show her personality. She has a silly, goofy side and loves to roll around on the carpet. She loves to chew on bones but is still figuring out how to play with toys, which has been very sweet to watch. She is excellent at living with her foster sister -- she is gentle and respectful and has shown zero resource guarding. Genie is approximately 1y 0m 12d old and is fully grown at 34 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is begin the registration process at www.muddypawsrescue.org. If you are already a registered adopter with Muddy Paws Rescue, please email us at adoptionmeetings@muddypawsrescue.org.
This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.
🧠 Temperament
Genie spent her first couple days settling in napping pretty much all day, but in the last couple days she's started to open up and show her…. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.
🎾 Exercise
She wants to say hi to every single person and dog we see on walks. Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.
✂️ Grooming
Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
She LOVES her people and follows me all around the apartment like a little shadow. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
