Mercedes is a sweet, playful puppy who's still growing into her paws (and doesn't quite realize how big she's getting!). She took a few days to decompress after coming from the shelter but has since settled in beautifully. She's relaxed at home, naps happily on the couch, and isn't fazed by city noise on walks. She's eager to please, learns fast (already mastered sit and potty training in just a couple of days), and lights up around people and dogs alike. On leash, Mercedes is a star! She doesn't pull, has polite greetings, and is easily redirected with a treat if she wants to stop and sniff. She's very dog-social and had a great time playing at the shelter and in playgroups, though since she doesn't yet know her own strength, she'd do best with a playmate closer to her size. Her limited experience with kids has been positive — calm, gentle, and no signs of anxiety. She's making real progress with training and is currently on calming medication that seems to be helping. Outside the crate, she's an extremely easygoing dog. She can currently handle 2-4 hours alone and sometimes sleeps through the night. Mercedes is happiest with her person or a canine playmate, and loves attention and treats! Mercedes is approximately 0y 7m 16d old and may be 30 to 40 pounds when fully grown. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. Mixed / Unknown breed

This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.

🧠 Temperament

Her limited experience with kids has been positive — calm, gentle, and no signs of anxiety. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.

🎾 Exercise

She's relaxed at home, naps happily on the couch, and isn't fazed by city noise on walks. Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

✂️ Grooming

Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.

🏙️ In a NYC apartment

She's eager to please, learns fast (already mastered sit and potty training in just a couple of days), and lights up around people and dogs alike. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
