Meet Bolo Some dogs have to fight a little harder to get their happily ever after. Bolo, affectionately known as Bo, is one of them. This sweet boy has already overcome more than any dog should have to endure, and his determination to live is nothing short of inspiring. Bo spent weeks in a high-kill shelter in North Carolina growing weaker by the day. He was eventually rushed to the veterinarian, where he was diagnosed with severe anemia and needed two blood transfusions. After months of fighting his way back, including overcoming a serious battle with Babesia, Bo is finally healthy! He has tested negative, his bloodwork is back to normal, and his veterinarian considers him fully healed. Now, it's time for this boy to enjoy the life he fought so hard to have. And does he ever know how to enjoy it! Bo absolutely LOVES people. Pets, kisses, belly rubs? Yes, please! He's happiest when he's included in everyday life, whether that's joining you for a car ride, keeping you company around the house, or curling up for a cozy couch nap. Mealtime is definitely one of his favorite! Bo can be a little unsure when first meeting new dogs, so slow, thoughtful introductions are best. Once he's comfortable, he's happy to coexist and even enjoy a little playtime with his furry friends. And we can't forget his signature car routine: Bo likes to hop into the driver's seat, give the horn a little toot, and then settle into his spot for the ride. Apparently, he has places to be! After everything Bo has survived, he isn't asking for much. Just a loving family, a soft place to sleep, a few belly rubs, and someone who will make sure he never has to wonder where his next meal or safe place will come from. He's done the hard work of surviving. Now, it's his turn to live, love, and be someone's beloved family member. Could you be the person Bo has been waiting for? Please remember that adoption bios are only a snapshot of each animal. Reach out to our Adoption Team for additional information about Bo and to learn if he may be the right fit for your home. All dogs will be altered, microchipped, and receive age-appropriate vaccines prior to adoption. Interested in adopting or fostering? Need more info on this dog? 🧠 Temperament
This sweet boy has already overcome more than any dog should have to endure, and his determination to live is nothing short of inspiring. Mixed-breed dogs pull traits from several lines, which often means fewer breed-linked health problems and a temperament best judged by meeting the dog.
🎾 Exercise
Once he's comfortable, he's happy to coexist and even enjoy a little playtime with his furry friends. Depends on the individual.
✂️ Grooming
Varies with coat type. Short coats need little; longer or double coats need regular brushing.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
Mixes are often excellent city dogs. Building breed restrictions are usually enforced on what a dog looks like, so ask the rescue how the dog is typically identified.
