Marie Laveau came to us from Alabama, where she was at risk due to her medical condition. Born with Microphthalmia, her left eye is very small and does not function - but you would never know it by the way she lives her life. She is playful, affectionate, happy, and full of love. She was once adopted and had a home of her own, but sadly was recently returned because her family no longer had the time for her. Through it all, Marie Laveau has remained incredibly sweet and trusting. She deserves more than being overlooked because she is “different.” She deserves a family who sees how truly special she is - a dog who loves deeply, plays joyfully, and just wants someone to love her forever. Marie Laveau has already overcome so much. Now she just needs the person who will finally choose her for life. All dogs will be altered, microchipped, and receive age-appropriate vaccines prior to adoption. 🧠 Temperament
She is playful, affectionate, happy, and full of love. Mixed-breed dogs pull traits from several lines, which often means fewer breed-linked health problems and a temperament best judged by meeting the dog.
🎾 Exercise
Depends on the individual. A daily walk plus play is the baseline; ask the foster how the dog behaves after a quiet day.
✂️ Grooming
Varies with coat type. Short coats need little; longer or double coats need regular brushing.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
Mixes are often excellent city dogs. Building breed restrictions are usually enforced on what a dog looks like, so ask the rescue how the dog is typically identified.
