Meet Patti, one of three dogs rescued from severe neglect in Washington Heights, NY. After being used for breeding and denied basic care, Patti was left suffering with severe, painful matting and a urinary tract infection. Thankfully, NYC Second Chance Rescue stepped in to help secure her surrender, and she is finally safe in our care. Patti deserves a chance to leave her painful past behind and discover what it means to be loved. Every bio is just a snapshot of the animal. For more information about Patti, please reach out to our Adoptions Team.
🧠 Temperament
Mixed-breed dogs pull traits from several lines, which often means fewer breed-linked health problems and a temperament best judged by meeting the dog. What the foster or shelter observed day to day is far more predictive than any breed guess.
🎾 Exercise
Depends on the individual. A daily walk plus play is the baseline; ask the foster how the dog behaves after a quiet day.
✂️ Grooming
Varies with coat type. Short coats need little; longer or double coats need regular brushing.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
Mixes are often excellent city dogs. Building breed restrictions are usually enforced on what a dog looks like, so ask the rescue how the dog is typically identified.
