Dixie is a 1 year old, 48 pound Poodle mix who was found alongside the road with her mom, Dani, and littermate, Denver, by a worker from our partner shelter. These are some of the sweetest dogs we have ever met! Dixie is gentle, loving, and happiest getting all the affection and attention from people and other dogs. The three share such a sweet bond, and each is now learning the ropes in their fown oster home as we get to know their individual personalities. She has been spayed and vetted and has started a nutritious diet to help her gain some healthy weight. We can’t wait to watch this girl continue to blossom and find a forever family to love!

Poodle

🧠 Temperament

Dixie is gentle, loving, and happiest getting all the affection and attention from people and other dogs. Genuinely one of the smartest breeds — quick to learn, and quick to invent bad habits if bored.

🎾 Exercise

45-60 minutes daily plus puzzle work. Mental exercise matters as much as physical for this breed.

✂️ Grooming

High maintenance. The curly single coat doesn't shed much but mats easily; expect brushing several times a week and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks.

🏙️ In a NYC apartment

Excellent city dogs — low shedding, adaptable and highly trainable. Budget for grooming.
