Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Thier Foster Parent Says: "Charlie is a super sweet puppy! He gets along so well with my 75 lb boxer and they play periodically throughout the day. He his easily correctible if my dog is done playing, Charlie bows down and stops. He has a medium level of energy, is fully ready to play everytime we go outside into the yard, and is equally ready to chill and sleep. He is just learning to play with toys and people, but loves to play and wrestle with other dogs. We live upstate Ny so how he is in the city I would not know. But he loves running and rolling in the grass, loves to dig in the dirt a little, and loves to grab a slipper here and there. He is very good about relieving himself outside every time I put him out to play and he has only had two pee accidents because I was not seeing his pee signs before hand. He also knows the word ‘no’ and sit and does both very well. He loves treats and takes them very gently. He is super sweet with new people and will run up to them right away, but a little timid to let you fully touch him as it seems he doen’t immediately like to be picked up. I have not walked him on a leash yet but will do in the next day or two to see how he does -it is all new to him so inside the house, he pulls a little when you try to guide him with the leash – he is not used to this at all yet. I have not seen him with children yet but I feel he will be gentle and like them as he does adults so far – he is not jumpy and nippy at all. He has slept through the night every night since I have had him, without crying or needing to pee. He sleeps in his bed on the floor next to mine and is not needy at all. He loves his crate and has not problem going In for a nap, snack or when I have to leave the house. He did not cry at all when I left. If I have to leave the house more than 4 hours (which has been one time) he is perfectly content in his crate wth a kong of peanut butter and greeting our dog ‘walker’ eagerly when she came in at the midway mark. He was super friendly and they went out intot he fenced yard for. A half and hour to play. She had no issue getting him back in the crate inticed with a pig ear. He jumps a little bit when excited, but he stops the minute you tell him to. He does not need a ton of cuddles and will not get on the couch or bed unless you bring him up, but he will cuddle if you cuddle him – he is not needy so far." Level of dog ownership experience required: INTERMEDIATE – As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding

Mixed / Unknown breed

This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.

🧠 Temperament

He is super sweet with new people and will run up to them right away, but a little timid to let you fully touch him as it seems he doen’t immediately…. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.

🎾 Exercise

Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains…. Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

✂️ Grooming

Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.

🏙️ In a NYC apartment

We live upstate Ny so how he is in the city I would not know. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
