Grilled Cheese | Senior | 13 pounds | Chi Mix The name alone should tell you everything: warm, golden, comforting... and once you meet him, 100% impossible to resist. 😍 GC came to the Queens Animal Care Centers as an owner surrender — his exact age (13) is our best guess, since we don't know how much of his life came before us. But whatever his story was, he's arrived on the other side of it sweet, calm, and endlessly friendly, with his tail wagging and his golden years ahead of him. Since coming into care, GC has had an echocardiogram and is now on simple heart medication twice a day — a small routine for a big peace of mind, and one that's kept him feeling good and enjoying life. He's settled comfortably into his foster home in NYC and has genuinely blossomed: happy to go with the flow, up for whatever the day brings, and clearly just enjoying being a dog again now that he's feeling his best. A little about his personality: GC is easygoing and adaptable — equally content on a walk, playing fetch, or lounging on his dog bed near his person. He knows "sit" and gets visibly excited for "let's go for a walk," and he's continuing to pick up new commands along the way. He's fully house trained (his foster keeps pee pads out just in case, but rarely needs them), walks beautifully on a leash without pulling or getting distracted, and has shown zero signs of separation anxiety and non-destructive when left alone for extended periods. He's warm with everyone he meets — people, kids, and other dogs alike — and would be just as happy as an only pet or with a canine sibling. What GC is looking for: a low-to-medium-energy home with a cozy spot to call his own (your bed is a plus!), and someone who wants a dog that gives back exactly what comfort food promises — warmth, no fuss, and the kind of steady, uncomplicated love only a senior dog can offer. He'd do beautifully in a home with or without children, and honestly, whoever adopts him is getting the better end of the deal. Senior dogs may not have as many years ahead of them, but they make up for it by loving twice as hard, twice as fast. Grilled Cheese is ready to be someone's favorite comfort food for life. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, bordetella, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Heartworm negative and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply to adopt Grilled Cheese, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org

🎾 Exercise

A little about his personality: GC is easygoing and adaptable — equally content on a walk, playing fetch, or lounging on his dog bed near his person. Low — short walks and indoor play are plenty.

✂️ Grooming

Easy for both smooth and long coats. Dental care is the real priority; small breeds are prone to tooth disease.
