Kathy Needs a Foster by October 1 — Can You Help Her Keep Healing? 🐾 Kathy is an 8-year-old, 14-lb Shih Tzu mix — a little Eeyore energy, a lot of heart, and a recovery still in progress that needs the right hands to see it through. Kathy has had a rough few weeks. She came down with pneumonia, resulting in hospitalization, and has spent the past two weeks on a course of antibiotics — she's nearly finished, but still has a lingering cough. Because of this, she may still be contagious to other animals, particularly senior or immunocompromised pets, so a home where other animals are healthy and up to date on vaccines is a must. (Kathy herself currently lives alongside another senior dog who's stayed happy and healthy throughout her illness, thanks to being fully vaccinated!) Kathy is also underweight and working hard to get her appetite back on track. She's currently on an appetite stimulant and anti-nausea medication, but we're still figuring out exactly what foods will get her excited to eat. Her foster will need to be a bit of a food detective — patient, encouraging, and willing to try different things until we find what works. She'll also need a veterinary recheck at the end of this week with one of our partner vets to make sure her pneumonia is resolving as it should. What Kathy needs in a foster: 🏠 A multi-person household, or someone home often — Kathy does best with company nearby 🍽️ Patience and encouragement around mealtimes while we find her favorite foods 💊 Help staying on top of her medication schedule 🐾 A calm environment — no other pets currently, due to her lingering cough 🩺 Availability for a vet recheck this week The good news: 😴 Low-energy and easygoing — happiest resting most of the day 🚗 No separation anxiety 🥰 Craves affection and companionship, ideal for someone who wants a quiet, snuggly presence in the home Kathy isn't asking for much — just a soft place to land while her body finishes healing. Kathy is available for foster or foster-to-adopt starting 10/1 — apply today to help her keep healing. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Will need to be spayed/neutered. Waggytail Rescue will secure an appointment for Kathy.
