Jazzy

Jazzy’s journey hasn’t been easy—but his growth has been nothing short of incredible. He came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation and eventually landed at the South Los Angeles Animal Services alongside two of his brothers, Rex and Chavelle. Like so many dogs rescued from hoarding cases, the shelter environment was overwhelming and terrifying. Confused and scared, they displayed fear-based behaviors that sadly placed all three of them on the RED LIST for euthanasia. We’ve seen what patience and love can do for dogs like Jazzy, so we stepped in. When we first met him, he was petrified. He would run from us, sometimes even nip out of fear. But we knew his reactions weren’t aggression—they were survival. Jazzy didn’t want to hurt anyone; he simply had never been shown what safety, kindness, and trust truly look like. This March marks his one-year anniversary at Wagmor. While that might sound like a long time, the transformation we’ve witnessed is beautiful. It took months for Jazzy to understand that hands can be gentle, that voices can be kind, and that he no longer has to be afraid. Today, Jazzy has blossomed in ways that would make anyone proud. He’s gained so much confidence around other dogs and has even discovered the joy of toys and playtime. When he gets excited, he hops like a little bunny and “talks back” in the cutest way, as if he’s finally found his voice. He’s learning that loving touch is safe—and even something to lean into. Jazzy may not be the easiest dog to love at first. He needs patience, understanding, and time. But if you give him that chance, you will get to witness something truly special: a once-terrified dog blossoming into a loyal, expressive, deeply devoted companion. There is no greater honor than earning the love of a dog who had to learn how to trust. And with Jazzy, that love will be worth every moment.
