A NYC estimate for a dog this size and coat. Excludes the adoption fee and anything unexpected.
About 6 lbs now and still growing — this breed usually reaches 30–45 lbs.
If you haven't already fallen in love with Evelyn after seeing her face and those toe-beans, wait until you hold her. Her fur is genuinely the softest thing I've ever touched and it smells incredible. She's a problem solver for such a tiny pup. Water bowl sitting too high? She figures out how to climb and drink from it anyway. Gets warm napping between dogs or humans? She just walks herself to the cool kitchen or bathroom tile like she invented climate control. She mapped out the apartment in about 2 days—way more accurate than our Roomba. When you first put her in the crate, she'll whine for about 20 minutes before she settles, and once you learn her specific cry for when she needs to poop or pee in there, you'll know exactly what she needs. Her pee pad training is really solid. She'll get up from wherever she is and go to her pads about 7 out of 10 times. Pretty impressive for a 2-month-old. And this is my favorite thing: she lays down while she eats like she's at a fancy dinner. Her optical nerve doesn't work, which means she's blind. I know that sounds like a limitation, but honestly? I think it makes her perfect. She gets around just fine and genuinely doesn't care what she can't see. We tried one of those puppy halos (the bumpers designed for blind dogs) and it just got in her way. She bonks her head now and then, but as long as you keep her environment consistent with different textures so she understands where she is, she does great. One heads up: she loves chewing on wide-leg pants. You'll want to redirect her with a toy when she goes after your ankles. And keep the toilet lid closed because she's absolutely obsessed with it and sometimes wants to dive right in. She's a solid eater and a total sweetheart. Anyone would be lucky to have sweet Evelyn. Evelyn is approximately 0y 2m 12d old and may be 29 to 35 pounds when fully grown. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is begin the registration process at www.muddypawsrescue.org. This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.
🧠 Temperament
Anyone would be lucky to have sweet Evelyn. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.
🎾 Exercise
She just walks herself to the cool kitchen or bathroom tile like she invented climate control. Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.
✂️ Grooming
Her fur is genuinely the softest thing I've ever touched and it smells incredible. Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
She mapped out the apartment in about 2 days—way more accurate than our Roomba. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
