A large dog by weight

Hi, I'm Gretchen! I am a 69-pound lap dog who hasn't quite gotten the memo that I'm not a puppy anymore. My absolute favorite place in the whole world is draped right across my human on the couch, preferably with a belly rub in progress. Don't let my size fool you; I am a total snuggle bug at heart. I originally came into foster care after my first family could no longer care for me. While it took me a little time to settle in, these past few months have been amazing. Now that I know my foster humans are here to stay, I have completely relaxed into my true self. I am a wonderfully goofy, affectionate, and slightly dramatic girl who will happily follow you from room to room just to be near you. My signature move is sleeping flat on my back with all four legs straight up in the air! I am currently working on my excitement around other dogs, as they can make me a bit nervous, so I would do best as the only pup in the home. If you are a patient human who is willing to keep up with my training, I promise to reward you by being the most loyal, couch-warming companion you could ever ask for. Gretchen is approximately 7y 2m 6d old and is fully grown at 69 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is begin the registration process at www.muddypawsrescue.org. Mixed / Unknown breed

This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.

🧠 Temperament

I am a wonderfully goofy, affectionate, and slightly dramatic girl who will happily follow you from room to room just to be near you. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.

🎾 Exercise

Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

✂️ Grooming

Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.

🏙️ In a NYC apartment

It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
