A NYC estimate for a dog this size and coat. Excludes the adoption fee and anything unexpected.
Fully grown at about 32 lbs.
Meet Gus, our handsome, bespeckled, short and stubby, unstoppable older gentleman! Gus came to us from the NYC shelter where he was surrendered by his previous owners looking a little worse for wear. In Muddy Paws care, he has gotten all fixed up and is ready to retire somewhere safe and warm for his golden years. Gus is such a delightful and easy dog-- he is totally housebroken, walks perfectly on leash, and loves every person and dog he has ever come across. At home he is sleepy and relaxed, cuddling on the couch with his humans, groaning happily while receiving ear scritches, or snoozing in his bed. He is perfectly calm when left alone. He LOVES going on leisurely sniffy walks around the neighborhood and has a bright pep in his step despite his age! Gus has very limited hearing and has had a number of teeth removed, but neither bother him-- he's a very voracious (soft) food lover and is a perpetually unbothered king since he can't hear much, responding instead to our hand gestures. Will you give Gus the loving home he deserves for the rest of his days? Gus is approximately 12y 1m 9d old and is fully grown at 32 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is begin the registration process at www.muddypawsrescue.org. If you are already a registered adopter with Muddy Paws Rescue, please email us at adoptionmeetings@muddypawsrescue.org.
This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.
🧠 Temperament
Will you give Gus the loving home he deserves for the rest of his days?. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.
🎾 Exercise
Gus is such a delightful and easy dog-- he is totally housebroken, walks perfectly on leash, and loves every person and dog he has ever come across. Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.
✂️ Grooming
Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
