A NYC estimate for a dog this size and coat. Excludes the adoption fee and anything unexpected.

Hazel is a sweet, playful dog who loves to be near her companion. When we walk around the apartment she often follows us from room to room and naps by our feet when we sit down. She loves to play with her toys; we've played fetch with the tennis ball and she brings it back consistently (although sometimes takes some convincing to release it) and she loves to play tug-of-war with the rope. She's very intelligent and understands verbal cues very well. Hazel is approximately 0y 10m 23d old and may be 51 to 63 pounds when fully grown. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is begin the registration process at www.muddypawsrescue.org. If you are already a registered adopter with Muddy Paws Rescue, please email us at adoptionmeetings@muddypawsrescue.org.

Mixed / Unknown breed

This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.

🧠 Temperament

Hazel is a sweet, playful dog who loves to be near her companion. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.

🎾 Exercise

When we walk around the apartment she often follows us from room to room and naps by our feet when we sit down. Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

✂️ Grooming

Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.

🏙️ In a NYC apartment

It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
