A NYC estimate for a dog this size and coat. Excludes the adoption fee and anything unexpected.
Fully grown at about 34 lbs.
Meet Oakley, the 34 lb girl who is winning the 'Perfect House Guest' award in her foster home! Oakley is completely house-trained (she even has a favorite designated tree spot already!) and is adapting to city life like a champ. While she notices the new city noises, she doesn't get anxious or overwhelmed by them. She is incredibly eager to please- when she gave a little bark at a neighbor in the hallway, a simple 'no, we don’t do that' from her foster was all it took for her to stop and listen. Oakley is an absolute dream at bedtime. She happily goes into her crate and sleeps through the entire night. When left home alone, she does great in her crate with a little background music playing to keep her company! While she is still decompressing, Oakley’s fun, playful side is already shining through. She is smart, sweet, and always up for playtime. When she sees other dogs on walks, her tail starts wagging up a storm! Because she is so sweet but might need a gentle reminder not to jump when she's excited. She also shows zero food aggression.Oakley is a loving, smart, and gorgeous girl who is ready to find her forever family. Oakley is approximately 3y 0m 9d old and is fully grown at 34 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is begin the registration process at www.muddypawsrescue.org. If you are already a registered adopter with Muddy Paws Rescue, please email us at adoptionmeetings@muddypawsrescue.org.
This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.
🧠 Temperament
She is smart, sweet, and always up for playtime. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.
🎾 Exercise
When she sees other dogs on walks, her tail starts wagging up a storm!. Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.
✂️ Grooming
Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
She is incredibly eager to please- when she gave a little bark at a neighbor in the hallway, a simple 'no, we don’t do that' from her foster was all…. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
