A small dog by weight

Winniw is an absolute cuddle bug. She loves being close to her people and seems happiest when she can curl up right next to you. If you sit on the couch, she’ll happily hop up and settle beside you. If you’re in bed, she’ll come snuggle in there too. Once she feels comfortable, she loves rolling onto her back for belly scratches, and she will happily curl herself into your arms and fall asleep. She is an incredibly affectionate little dog who clearly loves having people to call her own. She is also very easygoing. She is calm and quiet around the home, no barking, no whining, and the only time we have really heard her bark is when she spots a squirrel—she is very interested in squirrels and would definitely like to chase them if given the chance! Otherwise, she is peaceful and sweet. She lets us brush her coat, touch her paws, check her ears, and even bathe her without any fuss. For a 10-year-old girl, Winnie has great energy. She is curious, social, and very happy to go on walks. She walks beautifully on leash, has no trouble with stairs, and can comfortably enjoy longer walks. She has also been very sweet with other dogs, and she passed a cat today on the street without doing more than look at him. Winnie can get a little overwhelmed in busy environments with lots of people. We have taken her on the subway, and while it definitely isn’t her favorite activity, she has handled it well. We have also noticed that she can become frightened if a jogger runs directly toward or very close past her, and she may lunge toward them. She is small and easy to manage on leash, but she seems to feel safest when people approach her calmly rather than suddenly or quickly. She is still working on house-training. Even after a walk, she does not always pee outside and may wait until she gets back indoors, so her future family should be prepared to continue working patiently on that with her. But, she mostly does her needs outdoor. Winnie can also be a little picky about food. She is much more interested in what the humans are eating than in dry kibble and seems to prefer softer foods. We don’t know the reason for this, but softer textures appear easier or more appealing to her. Above all, Winnie is a sweet, gentle, affectionate companion who wants to be part of your life. She wants to be beside you on the couch, snuggled against you in bed, or simply nearby while you go about your day. She has so much love to give and would be wonderful for someone looking for a loyal little companion who truly loves being close to her people. Winnie is approximately 10y 0m 24d old and is fully grown at 16 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. Mixed / Unknown breed

This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.

🧠 Temperament

Above all, Winnie is a sweet, gentle, affectionate companion who wants to be part of your life. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.

🎾 Exercise

She is curious, social, and very happy to go on walks. Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

✂️ Grooming

She lets us brush her coat, touch her paws, check her ears, and even bathe her without any fuss. Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.

🏙️ In a NYC apartment

She is calm and quiet around the home, no barking, no whining, and the only time we have really heard her bark is when she spots a squirrel—she is…. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
