Meet Evie from the Land Rover litter, one of six puppies who came to us with their mom, Honor, after a family in El Cajon who couldn't keep them. Thanks to fosters, we were able to step in to help. She's about 12 weeks old now and weighs 7 pounds, the smallest of the litter, and we're estimating she'll grow into somewhere around 22 to 27 pounds as an adult, though that's an estimate. She's what we think is a lab / cocker spaniel mix, black with just a touch of white on her chest and a reddish brown wash of color across the back of her neck, and she's got a habit that makes her whole foster home laugh, stopping mid stride to check herself out in any mirror she passes, like she already knows she's the best looking one in the bunch. Evie is calm and gentle by nature, independent enough that she could do well as an only dog, and playful without ever being frantic about it. She rides well in the car, and while she takes a minute to warm up to new people, once she does she's all in, leaning into a good belly rub like it's the whole point of her day. 🧠 Temperament
Evie is calm and gentle by nature, independent enough that she could do well as an only dog, and playful without ever being frantic about it. Friendly, people-focused and famously food-motivated, which makes training straightforward.
🎾 Exercise
High needs — 60-90 minutes daily. Labs love retrieving and swimming, and an under-exercised Lab tends to get mouthy and destructive.
✂️ Grooming
Short double coat that sheds heavily year-round and more in spring and fall. Weekly brushing helps a lot.
🏙️ In an LA apartment
Can do well in an apartment if genuinely exercised. Size and shedding are the main constraints; most are elevator- and crowd-tolerant.
