My name is Bettybop. I am a female, black and brown German Shepherd Dog mix. I have been at the shelter since Oct 05, 2026. Hi, I’m Betty Bop! I'm Betty Bop, a 1-year-old Shepherd mix, and I have a small structural problem. You see, I appear to have bones. I walk around on legs. Everything seems perfectly normal. And then somebody starts petting me... AND ALL MY BONES DISAPPEAR. I melt. Completely. "Oh Betty, who's a good—" PLOP. Congratulations. You now have approximately one entire Shepherd mix liquefied in your arms. PLEASE CONTINUE PETTING. I'm an incredibly sweet girl who absolutely LOVES other dogs. And I don't mean: "Yeah, dogs are okay." I mean: DOGS?!?! Friends! Playmates! Besties! Where have you been?! I also get along perfectly well with cats, so I'm already bringing some pretty impressive social skills to the table. Honestly, I've got the makings of a really wonderful dog. But here's the important part: I'm only one year old. I'm still young, I'm still learning, and I've got a whole lot of potential that needs someone to help shape it. I need training. I need structure. I need boundaries. I need exercise. I need somebody who's going to show me what being a good grown-up dog looks like instead of assuming I'll magically figure everything out on my own. Because with the right guidance? I COULD GO SO MANY DIRECTIONS. Adventure buddy? Let's learn! Family dog? Sounds wonderful! Doggy sibling? YES PLEASE. Cat roommate? Sure! Professional full-body cuddler? Actually... I'M ALREADY CERTIFIED. I'm not looking for someone who expects perfection on day one. I'm looking for someone who sees all this potential and thinks: "I want to help that dog become the absolute best version of herself." Teach me. Exercise me. Give me consistency. Let me use my brain. Love me like crazy. And occasionally prepare yourself to catch me when I completely collapse into your arms because somebody touched my head. I'm Betty Bop. I'm sweet as pie. I love animals. I've got my whole life ahead of me. And with a little training, structure, and love... I'M GOING TO BE ONE HECK OF A DOG. Betty Bop is spayed, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. Her adoption fee is $500.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Betty Bop will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption. If you'd like to meet her please visit, we're conveniently located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn near the F train (Ft Hamilton Pkwy) and the B16 bus. We're open daily for adoptions from 11am to 5:30pm. Betty Bop can't wait to meet you! German Shepherd

🧠 Temperament

I'm an incredibly sweet girl who absolutely LOVES other dogs. Confident, highly trainable and deeply loyal, bred to work all day alongside a handler.

🎾 Exercise

High — 60-90+ minutes daily plus a job to do. Scent work and obedience are ideal outlets.

✂️ Grooming

Heavy double-coat shedding year-round with two big blowouts a year. Brush several times a week.

🏙️ In a NYC apartment

Demanding in an apartment: large, vocal and often reactive to the constant stimulus of a city street. Very doable for an experienced owner, hard for a first-timer.
