Leonard - 5 years & 20lbs, Doodle Mix - Shnoodle?, Neutered Our Team Says: "Leonard is a doodle, poodle, shnoodle - dream! He's got a wonderful personality. And a dreamy vbe - always down for a good time. Please note his adopter does need to be ready to deal with the classic small dog dental issues. He is in need of a dental post adoption and he does have one cracked tooth - it's not an emergency but somethng his adopter will need to be ready to take on." Thier Foster Parent Says: "Leonard is an adorable Poodle/Doodle mix, around 5 years old, with the most expressive eyes that seem to make you smile the moment you look at him! He can be a little shy when you first meet him, but he warms up quickly and lets his sweet personality shine. He walks nicely on a leash and loves saying hello to other dogs he meets along the way. He knows how to sit when asked, and when you stop to pet him, he may pop up on his hind legs and dance around for your attention! Leonard is a sweet, well-mannered boy with a playful side. He loves a big, tasty bone, yummy treats, and running around with a teddy bear in his mouth. He still gets the occasional case of the zoomies, which makes him even more adorable! He has been spending time with a resident dog and is doing very well. When playtime is over, Leonard enjoys resting in his crate, curling up in his cozy bed, and relaxing. Leonard is housebroken and does best with several walks throughout the day to help him maintain his good habits. He does understand the word sit and No. Car rides can make him a little anxious, but looking out the window seems to help him feel more comfortable. With patience and reassurance, he can continue building his confidence. Between his soulful eyes, happy little dances, playful zoomies, and love of cuddles, Leonard has a way of making you smile without even trying." TOLERANCE TO CITY Adjusting to the city – Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well in quiet areas and probably just needs more time to adjust (may be a puppy or a brand new rescue). POTTY TRAINING Yes - as long as you are on top of potty breaks, needs more help when he's transitioning to a new home COMFORT LEVEL WITH STRANGERS In between bean – Fine with meeting new people but not particularly interested, kind of shy in busy social situations like a gathering or a packed day in the park. BEHAVIOR WITH CHILDREN (always requires adult supervision) Yes for most ages – very confident, gentle, low energy, tolerant, not mouthy SOCIAL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER DOGS Yes – Good with most other dogs (sizes, breeds, etc.) as far as we know and enjoys socializing with other canines RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR WITH OTHER ANIMALS (cats, small pets, etc.) Okay to live with cats due to breed and size MOUTHY BEHAVIOR Past this stage– Little to no interest in chewing on stuff or putting things in their mouth that aren’t food. Doesn’t try to chew on hands, feet, etc. during playtime SEPARATION ANXIETY Adjusting – Might cry for a few minutes when you first leave the house but settles pretty quickly and has no problem being left alone otherwise. LEASH MANNERS Old Pro – Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction. CUDDLE BUG LEVEL Medium – Likes to snuggle when he's in the mood ut often stays in his own bed JUMPING ON PEOPLE TO SAY Listens to correction – Only jumps on people they know when really excited, stops with correction. CRATE TRAINING Yep/mostly – Seems comfortable in the crate, may whine a little at first but settles pretty quickly. We use the crate when we leave the pup alone and/or at night. Medical status: Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angele
🧠 Temperament
He can be a little shy when you first meet him, but he warms up quickly and lets his sweet personality shine. Genuinely one of the smartest breeds — quick to learn, and quick to invent bad habits if bored.
🎾 Exercise
He walks nicely on a leash and loves saying hello to other dogs he meets along the way. 45-60 minutes daily plus puzzle work.
✂️ Grooming
High maintenance. The curly single coat doesn't shed much but mats easily; expect brushing several times a week and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
We use the crate when we leave the pup alone and/or at night. Excellent city dogs — low shedding, adaptable and highly trainable.
