Bear is an adorable 2.5 - 3 year old, 50lb, Bassett Hound/ Labrador mix. We would like to put him in a calm home, with a secure, fenced backyard. He has short legs but he can jump high. He would be best as an only dog, or with a female dog that likes to play rough. He is healthy, neutered, current on all vaccines, and microchipped. Adoption only open to Southern California residents. We do not adopt out to households with children under 10 years old. An application needs to be filled out prior to meeting any of our dogs. An application can be obtained on our website http://www.deathrowdogsrescue.com
🧠 Temperament
We would like to put him in a calm home, with a secure, fenced backyard. Friendly, people-focused and famously food-motivated, which makes training straightforward.
🎾 Exercise
High needs — 60-90 minutes daily. Labs love retrieving and swimming, and an under-exercised Lab tends to get mouthy and destructive.
✂️ Grooming
Short double coat that sheds heavily year-round and more in spring and fall. Weekly brushing helps a lot.
🏙️ In an LA apartment
Can do well in an apartment if genuinely exercised. Size and shedding are the main constraints; most are elevator- and crowd-tolerant.
