Adopt Tiger Lily! Tiger Lily was reported to animal control 5 times before anyone stepped in. She was three days from being euthanized at a shelter in Barstow when a rescue contact pulled her and got her into HIT's care. She arrived with severe demodex mange and ear infections, and spent weeks with a medical foster getting both treated. She's been with the same foster and trainer for almost a year now, and what they've watched happen is a dog who takes new people and new dogs seriously at first. Give her a few predictable days, sometimes as few as 24 hours, and she's all in. Her love language is food and play, and if you throw a ball into the grass where she can't see it land, she'll go find it and bring it back, every time, with total focus. DNA testing confirmed Border Collie and Staffordshire terrier in the mix, along with a few other breeds, and anyone who's spent real time with her will tell you it shows both ways. She works like a Border Collie who wants a job and cuddles like a Staffy who wants your whole lap. Her foster describes her as a "mirror dog," the kind who watches you or another dog try something and immediately wants in on it herself. She's also got a competitive streak with a sense of humor attached: she loves chasing the resident dog around with her own ball in her mouth, angling to steal whichever ball he's got instead. She does best in a home with another dog already in it. Left to explore alone, she gets easily distracted and wants to go chase whatever catches her eye, but with company, she sticks close the whole time. She's looking for a home that gives her routine and lets her warm up to new people and places at her own pace instead of rushing her. Once she trusts you, she stays close, and the goofy side she saves for people she knows keeps showing up more and more. If you are interested in adopting, head to hitlivingfoundation.org/adopt to apply. Est. DOB 4/15/2025 Adoption Fee: her adoption fee has been fully sponsored! Thank you to her Fairy Dog Mother, Heather (@thedogsweregoodagain listener), for making that possible.
