Chai

Chai will stand on her back legs for as long as it takes you to notice her, and once you do, she's happy to stay right there for the pets. She and her sister Maple were abandoned in a yard in South Gate, covered in fleas, until one of our fosters spotted them and asked if she could take them home. The answer was yes. She's about 7 months old and 6.5 pounds, and we're estimating she'll land somewhere around 7 to 9 pounds full grown. She's all white, with a soft, fluffy coat, feathered ears, and the look of a Chihuahua mix. Her foster describes her as very calm and lovable. Sit down and she'll walk over, rest her head on your knee, and leave it there while you pet her. She likes to cuddle and loves being carried, though she also likes her personal space and isn't clingy about it. Get close and she'll roll onto her back for a belly rub, a move she recently pulled on a toddler lying next to her on the rug, and one look at that photo convinced our team that Chai might need a kid in her life. She can still be a little skittish at times, so a patient home that lets her warm up on her own terms will suit her best.
