We are fortunate to partner with Cesar Milan at the Dog Psychology Center. Cesar and I rescued Ricky together from Kern County Animal Services when we were being of service to the shelter. Ricky was a red zone flight risk. He was shut down and fearful. Perfect dog for Cesar to rehabilitate. It's been 2.5 months and Ricky is ready for adoption. He is such a great dog. So sweet and a bit independent. Ricky loves being part of a pack so another dog is necessary. Ricky is also athletic, so an active lifestyle is mandatory. Upon adoption, you will be given a free training lesson at the Dog Psychology Center. He is under two years old and 48 pounds. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. Please direct all questions to adopt@crdogrescue.com. All our dogs can be met with an approved application. Thank you for looking at a rescue dog for your next family member.
🧠 Temperament
Sweet and a bit independent. Confident, highly trainable and deeply loyal, bred to work all day alongside a handler.
🎾 Exercise
Ricky is also athletic, so an active lifestyle is mandatory. High — 60-90+ minutes daily plus a job to do.
✂️ Grooming
Heavy double-coat shedding year-round with two big blowouts a year. Brush several times a week.
🏙️ In an LA apartment
Demanding in an apartment: large, vocal and often reactive to the constant stimulus of a city street. Very doable for an experienced owner, hard for a first-timer.
