A NYC estimate for a dog this size and coat. Excludes the adoption fee and anything unexpected.
Fully grown at about 42 lbs.
Cody is a sweet, loving dog. We rescued her when she was 8 months old. She didn't know how to be part of a family and what it meant to be physically close to a loving human. The veteranarian provided us with guidance and Cody quickly learned that we loved her. She has been part of a family of four (with two preteen boys at the time of her adoption). It is now ten years later and our adult sons no longer live with us. Cody was housebroken when we got her. She will nudge you with her nose or she will make noises if she needs to go out soooner than her scheduled walk. We trained her to sit, lay down, and go to her "place" on command. She enjoys her walks. She will jump in the air and twist her body when she is happy to see someone. She will bark when she is being protective. We prepare her food (ground turkey and sweet potatoes) weekly. This combination seems to agree with her the most. She has attended doggie day care and she has been groomed outside of the home. Cody is approximately 10y 8m 8d old and is fully grown at 42 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is begin the registration process at www.muddypawsrescue.org. If you are already a registered adopter with Muddy Paws Rescue, please email us at adoptionmeetings@muddypawsrescue.org.
🧠 Temperament
Cody is a sweet, loving dog. Widely considered the most intelligent breed, and that is a demand rather than a convenience.
🎾 Exercise
She will nudge you with her nose or she will make noises if she needs to go out soooner than her scheduled walk. Very high — 90+ minutes plus daily mental work or a dog sport.
✂️ Grooming
Medium double coat, brush a few times a week.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. A difficult apartment fit unless you are committed to serious daily activity.
