Meet Maisie! Maisie is about 3 to 4 years old blue-nosed Pittie mix with the energy of a 2-year-old and the heart of a golden retriever. She is hands-down one of the most affectionate, cuddly dogs you'll ever meet and happiest when she is with her person, including squeezing into whatever spot gets her closest to you on the couch. She is calm, smart, and VERY food motivated. She walks perfectly on a leash and knows sit, stay, down, and heel. She is great with strangers. Around other dogs, she generally minds her own business when off-leash and has no issue passing them on walks. However, she does value her boundaries and doesn't like it when other dogs invade her personal space and try to sniff her butt while she is on leash. Exercise-wise, she is low-maintenance: 15-20 minutes of active play (fetch, tug, running) plus a couple of meaningful walks and she is content. Best fit: Someone with prior dog experience, or a work-from-home lifestyle. She's fine alone for hours but flourishes with her human being present in the house. She should also be in an adult only home due to her past incidents. Attention: Maisie has unfortunately had a bite incident with a child due to resource gaurding. She gets triggered by loud noises (like fire alarms, loud screams, or loud doorbells), which makes her anxious and go into protective mode, sometimes causing her to react by jumping on you. Additionally, she is a bit clumsy during play and can sometimes run and jump with her mouth open to grab a toy. While she knows the command "Out" and lets go of toys immediately, we wouldn't recommend a home with small kids due to her strength. _______________ NOTE FROM MPR: This listing is shared as a courtesy only. Maisie is approximately 5y 11m 22d old and is fully grown at 53 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is begin the registration process at www.muddypawsrescue.org. Mixed / Unknown breed

This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.

🧠 Temperament

She is calm, smart, and VERY food motivated. Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed.

🎾 Exercise

Exercise-wise, she is low-maintenance: 15-20 minutes of active play (fetch, tug, running) plus a couple of meaningful walks and she is content. Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

✂️ Grooming

Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.

🏙️ In a NYC apartment

She walks perfectly on a leash and knows sit, stay, down, and heel. Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
