Olive

Olive is the sweetest little boy. When I first picked him up, he was very shy and unsure, but it only took a few hours for him to warm up. Once he realized he was safe, he quickly became very attached and now loves nothing more than being close. Olive is an incredibly affectionate boy. If you stop petting him, he will gently ask for more attention, and he absolutely loves giving hugs. He’ll even jump up to wrap his paws around you for a hug. He is a wonderful listener and is already showing off how smart he is — he knows how to sit and give paw, and he is very eager to please. He is very friendly with people who stop to say hello and has been such a wonderful little companion everywhere we go. We’ve gone on walks and even out to restaurants, and he is very well-behaved. He’ll happily sit or stand beside me, say hello to people, and patiently wait for a treat. He really is such a good boy. Olive currently has a foster brother, a male Shih Tzu, and they coexist very nicely. They don’t really play together, though — they tend to spook each other a little bit, so they’re more comfortable simply doing their own thing while sharing the same space. Olive is underweight, and I’m working on helping him safely gain weight by giving him small, frequent meals and making sure he stays well hydrated. He enjoys going for walks, although loud or unexpected sounds can startle him. Cars coming by can make him nervous, so he does best with calm, patient guidance while he continues building his confidence. He really loves being with his person and prefers to stay close by. His ideal home would be one where someone is around often and can continue helping him learn that it’s okay to be on his own for short periods. Olive is also housebroken, but he is a bit particular about where he goes — he will only potty on grass. Because of that, a home with easy access to a grassy area would be ideal. He would also do best in a relatively calm environment rather than somewhere very chaotic or noisy. Olive is such a gentle, loving, smart little soul. He has been my shadow for the past few days and will be the perfect companion. Olive is approximately 1y 0m 9d old and is fully grown at 39 pounds. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble.
