Woody

So far, Woody has been a wonderful houseguest, he’s a very sweet and affectionate boy and he’ll shower you with kisses! When we first met Woody he was on the timid side and overwhelmed with all the new sites and smells of New York. He quickly warmed up to us, but remains jumpy around loud noises. He has acclimated to our space well, he discovered and was fascinated by his reflection, but initially he was fearful of the stairs. He learned quickly and we were able to conquer this fear with him in just a day. We’ve walked him in both the park and around our neighborhood and have noticed he can quickly get overstimulated especially with crowds, bikes and cars. In the few days he’s been with us, his confidence has improved, so he’ll likely continue to acclimate with more exposure. He's very excited to see other dogs and clearly wants to play! We've not seen any signs of aggression, however he can be skittish of strangers, so a slow approach is best. There have been no bathroom accidents thus far and he seems to get restless when he needs to go out. He’s comfortable with his crate and we’ve had no problems getting him settled for bed. He has barked when he wakes up in the morning and we are trying to avoid reinforcing this behavior while being mindful of our neighbors. Woody seems to be in his chewing phase, but as long as you have an eye on him he’s easily redirected to a bone. Though he seems less interested in his soft toys, he has of course already nabbed a sock and slipper! Everything is new, but with some time and patience I have no doubt the world will get a bit less scary for him. We’ve loved getting to know him and I have no doubt his adoptive family will quickly fall in love with him—and that, given a little time, he’ll fall just as hard for them. Woody is approximately 0y 6m 18d old and may be 50 to 60 pounds when fully grown. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble.
