Arlo’s story began in Mississippi, where life had clearly not been kind to him. Despite everything he has endured, Arlo has held onto his sweet, gentle spirit and is ready to finally experience what it means to be loved. This handsome boy is affectionate, loyal, and happiest when he is near his people. Arlo deserves a family who will show him patience, kindness, and all the love he has been missing. After a difficult start, he is more than ready for his happily ever after. All dogs will be altered, microchipped, and receive age-appropriate vaccines prior to adoption. Please note that the listed location for this dog may not be accurate due to technical limitations of this database and we have transportation options available within 6 hours of NYC (so don't let location hold you back)! Labrador Retriever

🧠 Temperament

Despite everything he has endured, Arlo has held onto his sweet, gentle spirit and is ready to finally experience what it means to be loved. Friendly, people-focused and famously food-motivated, which makes training straightforward.

🎾 Exercise

High needs — 60-90 minutes daily. Labs love retrieving and swimming, and an under-exercised Lab tends to get mouthy and destructive.

✂️ Grooming

Short double coat that sheds heavily year-round and more in spring and fall. Weekly brushing helps a lot.

🏙️ In a NYC apartment

Can do well in an apartment if genuinely exercised. Size and shedding are the main constraints; most are elevator- and crowd-tolerant.
