My name is Laramie. I am a female, black Australian Cattle Dog mix. I have been at the shelter since Oct 14, 2026. Hi, I’m Laramie! 5 Months Old • Australian Cattle Dog Mix • Part-Time Genius, Full-Time Trouble I'm Laramie, a 5-month-old Australian Cattle Dog mix, and before we discuss anything else... PLEASE LOOK AT MY EARS. Go ahead. I'll wait. Notice anything? ONE STICKS UP. ONE FLOPS DOWN. Maybe one ear is paying attention while the other is taking a break. Maybe I'm picking up satellite signals. Maybe I just enjoy an asymmetrical look. IT'S CALLED FASHION. Whatever the reason, I think we can all agree that I am EXTREMELY adorable. And here's the good news! I'm not just cute. I'm also VERY SWEET. Unfortunately, I ended up at the shelter because my previous owner didn't have enough time to properly care for me. Which brings us to something VERY important about me. I AM NOT A LOW-MAINTENANCE DOG. WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF CATTLE DOGS. I'm smart. I'm energetic. I'm curious. I pick up on new things quickly. And my brain is basically sitting there all day going: "WHAT ARE WE DOING?" "CAN WE DO SOMETHING?" "HOW ABOUT NOW?" "I LEARNED THAT ALREADY. WHAT'S NEXT?" "WHY ARE YOU SITTING DOWN?!" You see, people LOVE the idea of a smart dog. "Oh, she's so intelligent!" "She learns things so fast!" "What a clever puppy!" Yes. Thank you. BUT HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THE CONSEQUENCES?! Because a smart dog doesn't just sit around waiting for life to happen. A smart dog wants to be involved. Engaged. Challenged. Given things to learn and problems to solve. And if nobody gives me something productive to do? Well... I MAY BEGIN DEVELOPING MY OWN CURRICULUM. You might not love the coursework. That's why I'm looking for a family who understands what they're signing up for. I need consistent, positive training. I need daily physical exercise. I need mental stimulation. I need structure, boundaries, and a routine. I need someone who actually enjoys working with their dog, not just admiring how cute their dog looks on the couch. Although, for the record... I LOOK FANTASTIC ON A COUCH. I'm still only five months old, which means I have so much potential! With the right guidance, I can learn wonderful things. I can become a fantastic adventure companion. I can grow into a well-mannered, confident adult dog. But none of that happens automatically. SOMEONE HAS TO TEACH ME. And that someone needs to be ready for a bright, active young dog who will absolutely notice when the humans start slacking off. Because I am paying attention. Well... AT LEAST ONE OF MY EARS IS. I'm not the ideal puppy for someone who wants a dog that will entertain herself all day while they go about their business. I'm looking for people who want a real partner. Someone to challenge my brain and help me channel all this energy into good things. Because underneath all this cleverness and enthusiasm is a really sweet little girl who has the potential to become somebody's absolutely incredible companion. And I'm ready to find a family who has the time, patience, and commitment to help me become the best dog I can be. COME TO THE SHELTER, MEET ME, AND APPLY TO ADOPT ME TODAY! Laramie is spayed, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. Her adoption fee is $500, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Laramie will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption. If you'd like to meet her please visit, we're conveniently located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn near the F train (Ft Hamilton Pkwy) and the B16 bus. We're open daily for adoptions from 11am to 5:30pm. Laramie can't wait to meet you!
