My name is Skittles. I am a male, brown Chihuahua - Long Haired mix. I have been at the shelter since Aug 14, 2026. Hi, I’m Skittles! Every once in a while, a puppy comes through the shelter and everyone immediately thinks... Oh, this guy is going to get adopted FAST. That's me. I'm Skittles, a 3-month-old Chihuahua puppy and basically a shelter dog unicorn. Tiny? Check. Adorable? Obviously. Playful? Absolutely. Confident and outgoing? You bet. I'm the whole tiny package! I'm a happy little guy who loves playing, meeting people, exploring, and generally bouncing through life without a care in the world. I have all that wonderful puppy curiosity and enthusiasm packed into a very small Chihuahua-sized body. And yes, I'm probably going to stay pretty little. Yes, you'll be able to pick me up. Yes, I'll be extremely portable. Yes, I will probably fit into places that make it very tempting to carry me around like a tiny furry accessory. BUT I HAVE FOUR LEGS, PEOPLE. I'm a real dog! I want to walk! I want to sniff things! I want to explore! I want to learn how to walk nicely on a leash, meet other dogs, experience the world, and occasionally spend twelve minutes investigating one particularly fascinating patch of sidewalk. Carry me when I need it, cuddle me as much as you'd like, but please don't forget to let me be a dog. Skittles is looking for a family that's ready for all the responsibilities of raising a puppy—training, socialization, exercise, playtime, and plenty of love. He may come in an adorably compact package, but there's a whole lot of DOG stuffed inside. We're pretty sure this little unicorn won't be here for long. Skittles is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $650.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Skittles will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption. 🧠 Temperament
Bold and deeply bonded to one or two people. Chihuahuas are often wary of strangers and can be snappy if they were never taught that hands are safe — early gentle socialization matters.

Skittles is looking for a family that's ready for all the responsibilities of raising a puppy—training, socialization, exercise, playtime, and plenty…. Low — short walks and indoor play are plenty.
✂️ Grooming
Easy for both smooth and long coats. Dental care is the real priority; small breeds are prone to tooth disease.
