🐾 What to expect
  • Good with dogs

Dumpling is the kind of dog who makes you laugh without trying. He came to with inflamed, painful skin from mange and a stomach that wasn't cooperating. Even then, he greeted every person with a wag and a pair of golden eyes that his foster says are "the most beautiful." His skin is healing, the cone finally came off, and his goofy, joyful personality is taking over. He doesn't sit next to you so much as climb directly onto you, checking in for pets between bursts of tossing toys across the room just to chase them himself. He's house-trained and has had no accidents since his first day home. He's friendly with people and dogs of every size, though the big ones get a full flop and roll-over from him. Walks are still a work in progress, he pulls when he's excited or heading home, and a good block-long run usually settles him for the rest of the night. The foster is finally able to start some training. He barks at noises outside and likes to play-bite, but he responds fast to redirection, and his foster has already seen "remarkably fast" progress in just a week. He's trusting, hilarious, and getting more himself every single day. If you think Dumpling sounds like the right fit for your family, head to hitlivingfoundation.org/adopt to apply. Est.
