Lucy’s foster calls her one of the sweetest dogs she's ever met, and it takes about thirty seconds with her to see why. She greets you with a soft, wiggly hello and then curls up at your feet like the good girl she is. Lucy was adopted from HIT in 2022 and came back to us when her person realized they couldn’t give her the time she deserves, and now she’s ready for a home that has plenty of it to give. She’s a 10-year-old Shepherd mix with big brown eyes, and ears with a mind of their own (and we are obsessed). She’s house-trained and has earned free roam at home. During the day she’s a calm shadow, snoozing nearby while you work and content to be close. Then her people walk back through the door or pick up the leash, and her silly side shows up as full zoomies and a welcome home party every single time (she has not slowed down one bit on this). Her favorite walks are sniff walks, the slow kind where every scent gets her full attention. She doesn’t pull and she’s gentle on leash, and if you like a brisker (or sprint) pace, she’d love help learning a “with me” cue. She already knows sit, stay, and paw, is working on place, and will learn just about anything for a treat. Lucy meets kids, friends, and strangers with the same open, trusting heart, and if you want to win her over fast, bring a treat. Once she decides she likes you, she flops belly up and waits for pets, and it is very hard to say no. With other dogs, she prefers calm, respectful ones, and once she knows them she settles in and coexists happily. Her ideal home is someone who works from home or brings her along often and wants a companion by their side. She’d be happy as your one and only or alongside a similarly chill dog, as long as her people are affectionate, gentle, and around. Lucy will follow you from room to room and be glad you exist. 🧠 Temperament
She’d be happy as your one and only or alongside a similarly chill dog, as long as her people are affectionate, gentle, and around. Mixed-breed dogs pull traits from several lines, which often means fewer breed-linked health problems and a temperament best judged by meeting the dog.
🎾 Exercise
Her people walk back through the door or pick up the leash, and her silly side shows up as full zoomies and a welcome home party every single time…. Depends on the individual.
✂️ Grooming
Varies with coat type. Short coats need little; longer or double coats need regular brushing.
🏙️ In an LA apartment
She doesn’t pull and she’s gentle on leash, and if you like a brisker (or sprint) pace, she’d love help learning a “with me” cue. Mixes are often excellent city dogs.
