Meet Chile, an 11-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua mix from New York City! This sweet little gentleman is loyal, curious, loving, and happiest when he’s right by his person’s side. Chile has adjusted beautifully to life in Manhattan and has quickly mastered the art of being cozy. His favorite activities include leisurely walks, cuddling, snoozing, and — ideally — napping directly on top of you. If you’re looking for a tiny shadow and professional lap warmer, Chile may be your guy! He’s wonderful on leash and will happily trot right beside you wherever you’d like to go. Chile also appears to be house trained and prefers to do his business outside, though he can use pee pads when needed. He’s learning “sit” and continuing to work on his obedience skills with his foster family. Chile can be shy around new people and other dogs, so he needs a family who will give him the time and patience to come out of his shell at his own pace. Once he decides you’re one of his people, though, his incredibly loving personality comes shining through. While Chile has done well in his crate during the day, he’d much rather be wherever his humans are. You can usually find him curled up beside his foster family — or happily snoozing on someone. At 11, Chile knows what he likes: a peaceful home, plenty of downtime, a good walk, and lots of love. He still enjoys his active moments, but he’s generally a mellow guy who takes his relaxation very seriously. Chile would thrive in a quiet, calm home where he can soak up all the attention as the solo dog. We recommend a home with older children or adults only. As part of his care, Chile is scheduled for a dental procedure at the end of the month, which will be fully covered by Waggytail Rescue. His adopter will just need to bring him to Waggytail’s vet in the East Village for the appointment. If your idea of the perfect companion is a tiny, devoted cuddle bug who wants nothing more than a soft place to land and a person to love, Chile is ready to meet you. ❤️ Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, bordetella, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Heartworm negative and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply to adopt Chile, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Questions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org
