Meet Axsel — a mystery man with a heart of gold, headed for the Big Apple! 🗽 This dapper little 7-pound heartthrob (pug/chihuahua mix, 2 years young) has already come a long way. Axsel was found in Tijuana, where kind hands looked after him before he crossed into rescue care with our San Diego-based partner. His full backstory is a bit of a mystery — but honestly, that just makes him more interesting. Whatever he's been through, it clearly didn't dim that sweet, easygoing spirit. Now he's trading Southern California for city lights, and the timing couldn't be better — right as the seasons start to turn. Axsel is dog-friendly, great with humans, and has that rare mix of confidence and charm that makes strangers stop mid-sidewalk to ask "wait, whose dog is this?" New York, get ready. This little guy with the mysterious past and can't-look-away face is about to break hearts one bodega, one dog park, and one subway ride at a time. 💛🐶 A dapper little dude with a story still being written — Axsel is on his way! Axsel is eligible for foster or foster-to-adopt program! Axsel will be arriving to LaGuardia Airport (date TBD) and will need airport pick-up. No further information of photos of Axsel are available; Axsel is known to be dog/human-friendly. It's likely he will need some continued house, obedience and leash-training. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. Low — short walks and indoor play are plenty.

Easy for both smooth and long coats. Dental care is the real priority; small breeds are prone to tooth disease.
