Meet Lucky: a 7-year-old, 20-pound Terrier/Shih Tzu mix and a true New Yorker with a heart of gold! Lucky has lived in the city almost his whole life, so sirens, carts, and street noise don’t faze him. What he really cares about is you. This snuggle-bug lives for head scratches and cuddles, will snooze on your lap while you read or watch TV, and sometimes gives a gentle nudge when he’d like a tummy rub. When he rests his head on your lap and leans in for a little reassurance, it’s impossible not to melt. He’s also a dream for late sleepers. Lucky is house-broken and happy to head out whenever you’re ready. Jingle the leash and he stands on his hind legs, clapping his front paws in excitement! On the leash, Lucky is a confident, happy walker who stays focused with an attentive human. He does best when guided past other dogs, and praise for his good street manners works wonders. Passersby regularly exclaim how darned cute he is. He also thrives at doggie daycare, where he loves making dog friends once he’s had a proper sniff hello. What Lucky is looking for: Lucky left a busy household with young kids and is blossoming in foster care. He’s a devoted companion who bonds deeply, and he’d do best with an adopter who can help him feel secure when he’s on his own. In his previous home he struggled with separation anxiety, so he’ll benefit from a gentle decompression period when he arrives and patient, consistent practice with absences and happy returns. Daycare has been a great outlet for him when his people are away. He’s never destructive and had no accidents after a day of adjustment. With routine and reassurance, he’ll learn that you always come back. His forever home would be on the quieter side (hallway noise can startle him), with older children who can approach him respectfully. Ready for a loyal, loving lap buddy? Take this snuggle-bug home! Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Lucky, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.
