Meet Max, a.k.a. Merlin: the wizard of Brooklyn (with the beard to prove it!) 🧙♂️✨ Max is a 6-year-old, 12-pound small mixed breed (terrier) from New York City! He’s a loving, enthusiastic, sweet pup with a magic all his own. We nicknamed him Merlin because that beard looks like it belongs to a wizard, and we think he’s the perfect spell for your spooky season. 🎃 His story Max came to us from Queens ACC, where he had a very hard time with fear and illness. In Brooklyn, he’s adjusted beautifully, and his true self has come out. His spells and charms Max’s idea of a perfect day includes: 🐾 Walks, which he’s thrilled about every time 😴 Snoozing on his back with his feet in the air like a dead bug 🌪️ Rolling and tumbling around the floor like the Tasmanian Devil, entertaining himself in the most bizarre and wonderful way 🗣️ Chatting with his humans, mumbling and making tiny whistle sounds when he’s happy or excited 🤗 Giving hugs: he’ll wrap his little paws around your leg and rest his head against you The practical magic Housebroken: A wee-pad is kept out in foster just in case, and he has never had an accident in the home. About 90% of his business happens outside. Dog-friendly: He’s great with other dogs and very well behaved on walks. City-ready: He’s the perfect city apartment dog! He gets chilly easily, so he wears a coat on walks. Health: Max has recently recovered from an upper respiratory infection and will be neutered through the ACC (surgery date tbd). What every wizard needs you to know When he’s asked to do things he doesn’t like, such as being cleaned, getting his feet into his harness, or having his coat fastened underneath him, Max can be fussy. He may talk back with a little grumble. Because of this, we do not recommend placing him with young children at this time. With patience and training he can keep progressing, and who knows what the future holds! His ideal home Max’s forever family will be patient and consistent, willing to keep building on the progress he’s made, and comfortable respecting his boundaries while gently working on his manners. Are you ready to meet this little wizard?🪄 Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Max needs to be neutered and an appointment will be secured through Waggytail Rescue. Max can be adopted before his neuter appointment, but his adopters will need to transport him to/from and provide the additional $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit. To apply for Max, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org
