My name is Abraxos. I am a female, brown Yorkshire Terrier mix. I have been at the shelter since Aug 08, 2026. Hi, I’m Abraxos! I weigh approximately five pounds. My happiness, however, weighs about seven thousand pounds. I’m a 1-year-old Yorkie and quite possibly one of the happiest little dogs you’ll ever meet. I love people. I love attention. I love making friends. Honestly, I just really love being alive. And considering how my story started, that makes me pretty remarkable. I was found as a stray with severe lacerations on both of my back legs. Nobody knows exactly what happened to me, but I needed time and medical care to heal. And heal I did! My legs are looking so much better now, and I've made incredible progress. Every once in a while, I still won't put weight on one of my back legs. Our veterinarian doesn't believe anything needs to be done about it right now because I continue to improve, but my future family should be prepared to follow up with their own veterinarian if it continues or becomes a concern. Me? I'm far too busy being happy to worry about any of that. At just five pounds, I'm basically a pocket-sized ray of sunshine. I get along with everyone I meet and approach life with an enthusiasm that's hard not to love. After everything I've been through, you might expect me to be a little wary of the world. Nope. The world is GREAT. People are GREAT. Getting attention? GREAT. Finding a forever home?! Okay, I'm pretty sure that's going to be THE GREATEST THING EVER. Abraxos has already overcome a rough beginning without losing one ounce of her enormous joy for life. Now she's looking for someone who will keep an eye on that little leg, give her all the love she deserves, and spend the rest of her life wondering how so much happiness possibly fits inside a five-pound dog. Abraxos is spayed, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. Her adoption fee is $650.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Abraxos will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of her adoption. If you'd like to meet Abraxos please visit, we're conveniently located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn near the F train (Ft Hamilton Pkwy) and the B16 bus and we're open daily for adoptions from 11am to 5:30pm Abraxos can't wait to meet you! 🧠 Temperament
Confident and lively, with more terrier boldness than their size suggests. Strongly bonded to their person.
🎾 Exercise
Low to moderate — short walks plus play.
✂️ Grooming
High if kept long; much easier in a short cut. Dental care matters.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
Very apartment-friendly. Barking at hallway noise is the common complaint.
