My name is Aj. I am a male, brown German Shepherd Dog mix. I have been at the shelter since Aug 08, 2026. Hi, I’m AJ! I’m an almost 3-month-old Shepherd mix, which means right now I’m basically a tiny ball of potential waiting for someone to show me what kind of dog I’m going to become! Hiking buddy? Sure! Trick-learning superstar? Absolutely. Professional couch snuggler who also knows how to sit, stay, and give a high five? I can do that! I’m a super confident, friendly little guy who thinks meeting new people is one of the best parts of life. Here at the shelter, I get to hang out in the yard where neighborhood kids, adults, and all sorts of new friends come by to play with us. I absolutely thrive on all that activity and attention! I also get along well with other dogs and cats, so I have the potential to fit into all sorts of families. Of course, I'm still very much a puppy. I need someone who's excited about putting in the time for training, socialization, exercise, and all the other things that will help shape me into an amazing adult dog. The good news is that I'm starting with a fantastic foundation—I'm confident, social, eager to learn, and ready for whatever comes next. AJ doesn't know exactly what his future looks like yet. Maybe there are hiking trails. Maybe there are kids to play with. Maybe there's another dog to wrestle with or a cat who will teach him who's actually in charge. He just knows there's a person out there who's going to teach him cool tricks, show him the world, and finally let him know what it feels like to be someone's very own dog. AJ is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $500.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. AJ will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption. Heavy double-coat shedding year-round with two big blowouts a year. Brush several times a week.

Demanding in an apartment: large, vocal and often reactive to the constant stimulus of a city street. Very doable for an experienced owner, hard for a first-timer.
