A NYC estimate for a dog this size and coat. Excludes the adoption fee and anything unexpected.
My name is Chester. I am a male, brown German Shepherd Dog mix. I have been at the shelter since Aug 13, 2026. Hi, I’m Chester! I’m an almost 3-month-old Shepherd mix with a big personality, big potential, and—judging by the size of me already—probably a pretty big body coming my way too! Right now, though, I’m just a ridiculously happy puppy who thinks the world is one giant adventure waiting for me. People? LOVE THEM. Playing? ABSOLUTELY. Learning cool new things? SIGN ME UP. I’m outgoing, confident, and at the perfect age to start figuring out exactly what kind of dog I’m going to become. And honestly? The possibilities are endless. Maybe I’ll be your hiking buddy, bounding along beside you on weekend adventures. Maybe I’ll become a trick-learning superstar who knows sit, paw, spin, roll over, and seventeen completely unnecessary tricks you taught me just because we were having fun. Maybe I’ll grow into an enormous couch potato who somehow remains completely convinced that I still fit in your lap. All are strong possibilities. Because I’m still such a young puppy, my future family will play a huge role in shaping the adult dog I become. I’m looking for someone excited about training, socialization, exercise, and helping me learn all the important things a growing pup needs to know. And growing is definitely something I plan on doing! I’m already a bigger boy, and we expect I'll become a fairly large dog when I'm fully grown. So anyone falling in love with this adorable puppy face should be prepared for there to eventually be quite a lot more Chester attached to it. I don't know exactly what my future holds yet. But I'm happy, confident, ready to learn, and absolutely thrilled to find out. All I need now is a family who looks at this goofy little puppy and says, “Yep. That big guy is coming home with us.” Chester is neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. His adoption fee is $500.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Chester will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption. If you'd like to meet him please visit, we're conveniently located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn near the F train (Ft Hamilton Pkwy) and the B16 bus. We're open daily for adoptions from 11am to 5:30pm. Chester can't wait to meet you! 🧠 Temperament
I’m an almost 3-month-old Shepherd mix with a big personality, big potential, and—judging by the size of me already—probably a pretty big body coming…. Confident, highly trainable and deeply loyal, bred to work all day alongside a handler.
🎾 Exercise
Maybe I’ll grow into an enormous couch potato who somehow remains completely convinced that I still fit in your lap. High — 60-90+ minutes daily plus a job to do.
✂️ Grooming
Heavy double-coat shedding year-round with two big blowouts a year. Brush several times a week.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
Demanding in an apartment: large, vocal and often reactive to the constant stimulus of a city street. Very doable for an experienced owner, hard for a first-timer.
