My name is Emily. I am a female, brown Yorkshire Terrier mix. I have been at the shelter since Oct 02, 2026. Hi, I’m Emily! I'm Emily, a 3-year-old Yorkie mix, and I wasn't exactly planning on looking for a new family. I already had one. I lived with my beloved person, and I thought that was where I was going to stay. Unfortunately, my owner was a senior who became ill and had to be hospitalized. They could no longer take care of me, and suddenly... I NEEDED SOMEWHERE NEW TO GO. Do I miss my person? I'm sure I do. Everything changed pretty quickly, and I don't really understand why. But I've decided I'm going to handle this the best way I know how: BY MAKING FRIENDS. And apparently... I'M VERY GOOD AT IT. ?? I'm a happy-go-lucky little lady who has been taking this enormous life change remarkably well. Instead of shutting down and feeling sorry for myself, I've been meeting new people and basically saying: "Hi! I'm Emily! Are we friends now?" And the answer is generally: YES, EMILY. WE ARE. I'm sweet. I'm social. I'm friendly. I'm only three years old. And honestly? I'm pretty darn adaptable. I'm not coming into this with a seventeen-page list of household demands. I'm just looking for another place where I can belong. A family who wants me around. People to hang out with. Walks. Cuddles. Comfortable places to sleep. Perhaps somebody willing to tell me several times a day that I'm a very good girl. I FEEL THAT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE. I've already known what it feels like to be somebody's beloved dog. Through circumstances completely outside of anyone's control, that chapter of my life had to end. But I'm not finished. Not even close. I'm only three! I've got new people to meet, new places to explore, and an entire second chapter waiting to begin. I could thrive in all sorts of homes, so I'm not particularly picky about where this next adventure happens. I just have one important question: DOES YOUR FAMILY HAVE ROOM FOR AN EMILY? Because Emily is ready. Emily is spayed, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. Her adoption fee is $650.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Emily will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of his adoption. If you'd like to meet her please visit, we're conveniently located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn near the F train (Ft Hamilton Pkwy) and the B16 bus. We're open daily for adoptions from 11am to 5:30pm. Emily can't wait to meet you! 🧠 Temperament
Confident and lively, with more terrier boldness than their size suggests. Strongly bonded to their person.
🎾 Exercise
Low to moderate — short walks plus play.
✂️ Grooming
High if kept long; much easier in a short cut. Dental care matters.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
Very apartment-friendly. Barking at hallway noise is the common complaint.
