A NYC estimate for a dog this size and coat. Excludes the adoption fee and anything unexpected.
My name is Trixie. I am a female, brown German Shepherd Dog mix. I have been at the shelter since Aug 26, 2026. Hi, I’m Trixie! I'm Trixie, a 3-month-old Shepherd puppy, and right now my future is basically one giant blank canvas. What kind of dog am I going to grow up to be? Who knows?! Adventure dog? Let's go! Hiking buddy? Get my tiny backpack. Trick-learning superstar? Start buying treats. Family dog who spends her afternoons playing with the kids and her evenings snoring upside down on the couch? Excellent career choice. I'm an incredibly confident little puppy who seems to take just about everything life throws my way in stride. New experience? Let's investigate. New person? Hello! New adventure? TRIXIE IS READY. I also do wonderfully with other dogs and cats, so I have the potential to fit into all sorts of families. Of course, I'm only three months old, which means the wonderful dog I eventually become will have a lot to do with the family who raises me. I'll need continued training, socialization, exercise, boundaries, and plenty of opportunities to experience the world while I'm young. But you're starting with one fantastic little puppy. Confident. Social. Happy. Adorable. And ready to learn. Trixie could grow up to be so many different things. She's just waiting for someone to come along and say: "Come on, kid. Let's figure it out together." Trixie is spayed, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. Her adoption fee is $500.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC. Trixie will also get one free exam with one of our participating veterinarians within 30 days of her adoption. If you'd like to meet Trixie please visit, we're conveniently located in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn near the F train (Ft Hamilton Pkwy) and the B16 bus and we're open daily for adoptions from 11am to 5:30pm Trixie can't wait to meet you! 🧠 Temperament
I'm an incredibly confident little puppy who seems to take just about everything life throws my way in stride. Confident, highly trainable and deeply loyal, bred to work all day alongside a handler.
🎾 Exercise
I'll need continued training, socialization, exercise, boundaries, and plenty of opportunities to experience the world while I'm young. High — 60-90+ minutes daily plus a job to do.
✂️ Grooming
Heavy double-coat shedding year-round with two big blowouts a year. Brush several times a week.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
Demanding in an apartment: large, vocal and often reactive to the constant stimulus of a city street. Very doable for an experienced owner, hard for a first-timer.
