Meet Cane 🤍
Cane is a 7-8-year-old, 77-pound sweetheart and professional couch walrus who survived years with known animal abuser Dianne Bedford.
After finally being removed, he was taken to Devore Animal Shelter, where he ended up on the euthanasia list simply because he ran out of time.
Despite everything he’s been through, Cane is a gentle, goofy boy who deserves to know what a real family feels like. He’s happiest with calm dogs and needs a patient adopter who will give him the time to trust, decompress, and continue healing.
He’s currently with the incredible team at @scienceofdogs, where he’s learning, gaining confidence, and discovering that life isn’t so scary after all.
His dream job? Professional couch potato, snack enthusiast, and loyal best friend.
After everything Cane has survived, it’s finally his turn to be the one who’s spoiled.
Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed. The rescue's write-up is the best guide.
Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.
Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
