Hi there! My name is Rusty. It’s hard to believe I’m brand new both to the city and to the world, being only 3 months old, because I am such a good puppy! I also LOVE listening to the TV, so I’d be thrilled to listen to your favorite show with you. I love other dogs, and playing with my foster sister dog is my favorite way to spend my time. I want to spend time with my foster family’s cats; unfortunately, I think they’re a puppy like me and want to play with them, and they’re not so much a fan of that. I also love to snuggle. I love sleeping on my foster parent’s chest, even though they tease me about getting too big for that. If I’m not sleeping on my foster parent, I love to be right nearby, sleeping on the floor. I’m still learning to like dog beds, but I love a blanket or towel on the floor. I’m a pro at potty pad training, but I’m still working on my enforced naps. My foster parents let me play for about an hour before I go down for a two hour nap, but I have FOMO and would much rather be out with them. I’m getting better at it every day! I have a snuggle puppy that plays a heartbeat for me that I like to cuddle with during my naptime; my foster parents give me some kind of fun toy to help keep me occupied if I wake up early. I don’t like sleeping in a quiet room because every noise seems so loud, but I LOVE to sleep to the TV. White noise is only okay, but I love hearing people talk, so TV is perfect. I don’t really like being left alone right now, but who would when they’re only 3 months old? I’m just a baby! I’m brand new to the city and still have lots of learning to do! I am working on the commands “sit” and “lay down.” I’m an indoor puppy, so I use pads exclusively for potty time. My foster parents tell me every day how cute I am, so I must be pretty special. Do I sound like the right fit for your family? Apply to adopt me today at Muddy Paws Rescue. Rusty is approximately 0y 3m 4d old and may be 55 to 65 pounds when fully grown. They are microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. Their breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done. Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog. This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is begin the registration process at www.muddypawsrescue.org. If you are already a registered adopter with Muddy Paws Rescue, please email us at adoptionmeetings@muddypawsrescue.org.
This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.
🧠 Temperament
Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed. The rescue's write-up is the best guide.
🎾 Exercise
Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.
✂️ Grooming
Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.
🏙️ In a NYC apartment
