Meet Covie from the Land Rover litter, one of six puppies who came to us with their mom, Honor, after a family in El Cajon who couldn't keep them. Thanks to fosters, we were able to step in to help. He's about 12 weeks old now and weighs 10.1 pounds, and we're estimating he'll grow into somewhere around 32 to 38 pounds as an adult, though that's an estimate and not a guarantee. He's likely a lab / cocker spaniel mix, tan with a white face and long legs, and the stub of a tail he's got gives away just how much he's paying attention to whoever is in the room. Covie shares his foster home with another dog and gets along without a hitch, but it's kids who really light him up. He doesn't wait around for them to notice him, he goes looking for them, and once he's found one his tail doesn't stop. He's playful through the day and already sleeping through the night, the kind of puppy who lights up around the whole family, little ones included. 🧠 Temperament
Covie shares his foster home with another dog and gets along without a hitch, but it's kids who really light him up. Friendly, people-focused and famously food-motivated, which makes training straightforward.
🎾 Exercise
High needs — 60-90 minutes daily. Labs love retrieving and swimming, and an under-exercised Lab tends to get mouthy and destructive.
✂️ Grooming
Short double coat that sheds heavily year-round and more in spring and fall. Weekly brushing helps a lot.
🏙️ In an LA apartment
Can do well in an apartment if genuinely exercised. Size and shedding are the main constraints; most are elevator- and crowd-tolerant.
