This is a story. Mama Willow was living in a homeless encampment in Compton on the train tracks. She was full on pregnant, ready to pop, and her life and the life of her babies were in jeopardy. We finally negotiated her release. Timing was everything. Within 24 hours she had 11 puppies. If those puppies were born in the encampment, they would have never released them. The puppies would have been traded for drugs, used as currency. The mom and puppies have been raised in a home with Lisa, a certified Cesar Milan trainer. They were incredibly well cared for and exposed to reality as much as they could. They had people, kids, bunnies and other dogs around. They were handled a lot. They have been off to a great start. They were born June 15th. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. Please direct all questions to adopt@barknbitches.com. All our dogs can be met with an approved application. Thank you for looking at a rescue dog for your next family member.

Mixed / Unknown breed

This dog's breed isn't known, so here's general guidance for mixes.

🧠 Temperament

Every dog is an individual — temperament depends far more on this dog's history and personality than on breed. The rescue's write-up is the best guide.

🎾 Exercise

Most adult dogs do well with 30-60 minutes of walking a day plus play and sniffing time.

✂️ Grooming

Brush regularly, bathe as needed, keep nails trimmed and ears clean.

🏙️ In an LA apartment

Ask the rescue about leash manners, elevator and stair comfort, alone-time tolerance, and whether the dog settles in a small space.
